Money and Misunderstanding

Perhaps a more appropriate title would be Money and Trouble; subtitled My Attitude About Money Has Been the Cause of Most of My Troubles with My Wives.

This afternoon, Fran came to me and asked for a check. I gave her the check and asked what it was for. She told me that it was for Niki. She had promised her to pay for a part of the $15,000 that the funeral cost. I assume she indicated a third. Previously, she had given Bruce $10,000 when he was in financial difficulty. That money, she said, came from the money that Libby had left her. I thought when Fran said to Niki that she would pay a part of the expense, it would be with the same source. I told her that. She got angry, and said I gave lots of money over the years to ,my children—to Martha to help her buy her house etc. I said there is a difference between your child and a nephew and a niece. She became more furious. It was her brother who died. I did not have a brother. And on and on.

I started to write some more, but added it to another piece I called “Money.”
